Welcome to Mike Books January 24, 2009

Over the years, it has come to my attention that my friend Mike, while witty, spontaneous, and overall, a joy to be around, is missing something. Something of the utmost import. Something that helps all of us know where we stand. That’s right. Intellect. Well, not really intellect as Mike is an accomplished writer, producer, songwriter, pianist, playwright, and husband. These accomplishments clearly point out that Mike is part of the intelligentsia. However, he is not particularly well-read, as I am not particularly well-cultured in music. Just as my shortcoming is like a splinter in Mike’s world, so too is his in mine.

Thus, I offer the world, Mike Books. Every once in a while, I will ask Mike to read a text or article that I find particularly fascinating or worthwhile. My hope is that Mike will read said literature and increase his knowledge of things outside the city limits of Bellingham.

There are some things you should know about Mike, prior to him having the opportunity to review some works of literature.

1. He is prone to dogmatic expressions
2. He is prone to diatribes
3. His main goal in life is propogation
4. He is moving soon
5. He sometimes sleeps on the couch
6. He is looking to “make it big”
7. He will tell everyone that he does read even though he does not
8. He will pretend to already know about the topic of the text

With that in mind, look for him to respond to my suggestions haughtily and with contempt.
